What Greek Island Match collects, why, and how to opt out — analytics, consent and affiliate links explained in plain language.

Greek Island Match is a small independent travel site. This page explains what happens to data when you read it. It is written in plain language on purpose.

The short version

We do not ask you to register, we do not sell data, and we do not run advertising networks on this site. Analytics only run after you agree to them. Some outgoing links to booking partners are affiliate links, which means the partner knows the visit came from us.

When you first arrive, a consent banner asks whether analytics and related cookies may be set. Nothing but the strictly necessary consent record is stored before you answer.

  • Deny — no analytics cookies are set and no measurement data is sent.
  • Accept — Google Analytics 4 sets its own cookies (_ga and one property-specific cookie) to count visits and see which pages get read.

You can change your mind at any time through the cookie preferences link in the consent banner, or by clearing cookies for this site in your browser.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 with consent mode. When consent is given, Google receives page URLs, referrer, approximate location derived from IP, device type and browser. IP addresses are truncated by Google before storage. We use this only to see which guides are useful and which are not.

Some links to ferry, car rental, flight, transfer, eSIM and ticket partners are affiliate links. If you book through one, the partner may pay us a commission at no extra cost to you. Those links carry a tracking parameter identifying this site as the source; the partner’s own privacy policy governs what happens after you land on their page. Full detail is on how we make money.

Hosting and logs

The site is served as static pages from a content delivery network. The host keeps short-lived technical logs (IP address, user agent, requested URL) for security and abuse prevention. We do not use those logs for profiling.

Contact forms and email

There is no account system and no newsletter. If you email us, we keep the message only as long as it takes to answer it.

Your rights

If you are in the EU or UK, the GDPR gives you the right to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, to withdraw consent at any time, and to complain to your national data protection authority. In practice the only data tied to you is the analytics record described above, which you can prevent entirely by declining consent.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the bottom of the page changes with it.
